Sai Baba is considered to be one of the greatest saint, fakir or spiritual leader of India. His teachings stressed on self realization, helping others, moral code of love, forgiveness, inner peace, charity, contentment and devotion to guru and God. His teachings combined preaching of Islam and Hinduism. He stressed on the importance of surrendering to the Murshid or Satguru who can lead his disciple through the path of spiritual training. This film was released in 1977. It was written by Manoj Kumar and directed by Ashok K Bhushan. Accomplished actors like Sudhir dalvi, who played the role of Sai Baba, Manij Kumar, Hema Malini, Dheeraj Kumar and Manmohan Krishna, were part of the cast. It is a souls stirring film and the story line is fleshed out by the brilliant performances of the actors. The film showsa doctor, who has no faith in the miraculous powers of Sai Baba. When their son falls ill, he has no option left but to travel to Shirdi for the recovery of their child. With the miraculous recovery of their child, he develops faith in Sai Baba.

The subject of Sai Baba was a very interesting one and several feature films in many languages have been produced in the Indian film Industry. This is a Kannada film which was released in the year 1989. It was produced and directed by Om Sai Prakash and he also acted in the lead role. Rajkumar, Brahmavar and Vijaylakshmi also acted in this film. In this film a child is born toa Hindu couple with the blessings of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, but the parents of the child abandons him and leaves him in the forest, he is found by a Muslim couple who raise him.The child grows up to be Sai Baba. He goes to the Himalayas and returns to Shirdi, where he preached communal harmony and all the people of Shirdi are amazed by his powers. The rest of the film shows how Sai Baba enters his Samadhi and Sathya Sai Baba isborn, who is the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba.

This Telegu film was directed by Ashok Kumar and released in 2000. Sai Prakash acted in the main role and Murali Mohan, Jaya Sudha and P.J. Sharma are the other actors of this film. The film begins with Sri Sai Baba getting settled down in Shirdi. From this point onwards the narrator gives an insight into the simplicity, religious tolerances and the teachings of this revered saint. With the help of computer graphics the miraculous powers of Sai Baba are shown with incredible reality. The devotional music lends a unique charm to the film. This film is more of a documentary on the life of this great saint.

This Hindi film on Sai Baba is directed by Deepak Balraj Vij and was released on 29th October, 2010. The film introduces Sai Baba as a fakir who asked for alms and was shunned by the Shirdi villagers in his earlier days.The film shows sporadic anecdotes of Sai Baba’s miracles, using the clichéd chronicles of injustice on the farmers, courtesan, manipulative money lender, a limp, who is blessed with legs and a brother who unites with his sister on Raksha Bandhan.
